Ireland
Ireland’s charging points on one live map
Free or busy in real time for most of the country’s public chargers, with plugs, power and network, in the free GeoCharge app.

Data as of
Where the data comes from
Ireland has no single open list of its public chargers with their status, so the app reads the networks themselves. The largest, ESB ecars, and ePower’s own chargers come from ePower’s public map, which also shows the other networks its drivers can use, among them Lidl, ChargePoint, Q-Park and IONITY. EZO’s chargers come from EZO’s own map, and Applegreen’s from the roaming network that operators share.
All of these send a live status for each charger, so the app shows whether it is free or busy. What none of them covers, GoCharge among others, comes from Open Charge Map, an open database kept by volunteers, with plugs and power but no status. Prices are not shared, so the app shows no prices in Ireland.
Which plugs there are in Ireland
In Ireland you charge mostly with Type 2 on alternating current (AC) and with CCS2 for fast charging on direct current (DC). CHAdeMO, used by older Japanese cars such as the first Nissan Leaf, is still found at many fast chargers.
What the app shows
The map shows charge points by plug and power and colours them free or busy. You can limit the view to fast chargers (DC) or to free plugs, plan a trip with charging stops and keep track of what charging costs. Northern Ireland is shown with the United Kingdom.
Frequently asked questions
Is GeoCharge free?
Yes. The app is free. The voluntary premium option only removes the adverts.
Does the map include ESB ecars?
Yes. ESB ecars, the largest network in Ireland, is on the map with a live status for each charger, read from ePower’s public map, which shows it alongside its own.
Can I see whether a charge point is free?
For most public chargers, yes: ESB ecars, ePower, EZO, Applegreen and the networks shown with them send their status. Chargers that come from Open Charge Map show plugs and power without a status. The map can lag a few minutes behind.
Does the app show prices?
Not in Ireland. The networks do not share their prices. You find the price at the charger or in the operator’s app.
Which plug do I need?
Most new cars in Europe charge with Type 2 (AC) and CCS2 (DC). Check your car’s manual for its plug and choose it in the app’s profile: the map then shows only charge points that fit.
How do I find the nearest charging station?
Open the GeoCharge map and tap the location button: the map centres on you and shows the stations around. Tap a marker to see its connectors, power and operator, then tap Navigate to open the route in your maps app.
Can I show only fast chargers or only available ones?
Yes. Under the search field, the Fast DC button keeps only fast direct-current chargers and the availability button keeps only the ones that are free right now, where the data includes live status. In your profile you can also set your own connector types and a minimum power.
Can I plan a trip with charging stops?
Yes. Open Plan a trip, enter start and destination, set your connector, minimum power and current battery level, and GeoCharge plans a route through stations that match.
Does GeoCharge work in other countries?
Yes. The same app covers many European countries and Georgia. Switch a country on in your profile and the map shows its stations; a trip that crosses borders works too.
