Charging points across the United Kingdom on one map
Plugs, power and operators in the free GeoCharge app, with live free or busy status where the network shares it.

Data as of
Where the data comes from
The United Kingdom closed its national charge point register in November 2024. Operators now publish their own open data, but there is no single place that gathers it, so the app combines two sources.
The first is the charging networks that share their live status through roaming. In the United Kingdom this covers mostly the lamp-post chargers in London, plus a few larger operators. The second is Open Charge Map, an open database kept by volunteers, which still holds most of the old national register. Those chargers show plugs and power without a live status. Prices are not shared, so the app shows no prices in the United Kingdom.
Which plugs there are in the United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom you charge mostly with Type 2 on alternating current (AC) and with CCS2 for fast charging on direct current (DC). CHAdeMO, used by older Japanese cars, is still found at some fast chargers.
What the app shows
The map shows charge points by plug and power and colours them free or busy where a live status exists. You can limit the view to fast chargers (DC), plan a trip with charging stops and keep track of what charging costs. Fast chargers are always shown; street posts appear as you zoom in.

Frequently asked questions
Is GeoCharge free?
Yes. The app is free. The voluntary premium option only removes the adverts.
Where do the charge points in the United Kingdom come from?
From the networks that share their status through roaming and from Open Charge Map, which holds most of the former national charge point register.
Can I see whether a charge point is free?
Only for the networks that share their status, mostly in London. For the rest the app shows the plugs and power without a status. The map can lag a few minutes behind.
Does the app show prices?
Not in the United Kingdom. The data used does not include prices. You find the price at the charger or in the operator's app.
Which plug do I need?
Most new cars in Europe charge with Type 2 (AC) and CCS2 (DC). Check your car's manual for its plug and choose it in the app's profile: the map then shows only charge points that fit.
How do I find the nearest charging station?
Open the GeoCharge map and tap the location button: the map centres on you and shows the stations around. Tap a marker to see its connectors, power and operator, then tap Navigate to open the route in your maps app.
Can I show only fast chargers or only available ones?
Yes. Under the search field, the Fast DC button keeps only fast direct-current chargers and the availability button keeps only the ones that are free right now, where the data includes live status. In your profile you can also set your own connector types and a minimum power.
Can I plan a trip with charging stops?
Yes. Open Plan a trip, enter start and destination, set your connector, minimum power and current battery level, and GeoCharge plans a route through stations that match.
Does GeoCharge work in other countries?
Yes. The same app covers many European countries and Georgia. Switch a country on in your profile and the map shows its stations; a trip that crosses borders works too.
